The author

Julie Schauer taught art appreciation and art history at various 2-year and 4-year colleges, including the Corcoran College of Art (now part of George Washington University), George Mason, NVCC and COD. She has a BA from Northwestern and an MA from the University of Virginia. This WordPress website contains the transfer of two previous blogs with outdated software: Artventures and Artscapes, from the Blogger platform.

Art is for everyone, and this blog hopes to make it easier for all to understand. In these days of polarization, when people are becoming increasingly divided, art can bridge the gap between peoples and help us understand our common humanity.
